Oct 2025 - Back in Paris again in 2025 for the Sex and Politics exhibition with Art icon.
My self portrait was captured specifically for this exhibition, and from there inspired 3 more pieces. With an addition of a canvas depicting the torso area, this was an opportunity for me to brush up on my painting skills.
This piece questions how the body is seen, framed and consumed, how an image can function simultaneously as exposure and refusal. The painted torso is both shield and substitute. A way of occupying space, while withholding full access. By obscuring my face, I am resisting traditional portraitures demand for recognition, identity and full access.
